The Heart Theatre is a historic Art Moderne landmark in the heart of downtown Effingham, Illinois. Since opening its doors in January 1940, The Heart has been a place where generations of families gathered to experience the magic of the movies, celebrate special moments, and create lasting memories. Today, this beloved landmark stands as a symbol of Effingham's rich history and an exciting vision for its future.

 

Owned and operated by a nonprofit organization dedicated to its preservation, The Heart Theatre is launching a capital campaign to restore this historic landmark as a vibrant community performing arts center where history, education, entertainment, and economic development come together in the heart of downtown Effingham. Although the theatre is not yet open to the public, community support will make it possible to preserve its rich history and transform it into a place where future generations can once again gather in the heart of downtown Effingham to create lasting memories.
