We’re proud to share that The Heart Theatre has earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar)—the highest level of recognition for nonprofit openness and accountability.

This distinction reflects our commitment to sharing not just what we do, but how we do it—and why it matters.

What the Platinum Seal Means

Candid’s Platinum Seal is awarded to nonprofits that go beyond basic information to provide clear data on strategy, goals, and measurable impact. It allows donors, funders, and community members to better understand:

• Our mission and long-term vision

• How we are using resources

• What progress we are making toward revitalizing the historic Heart Theatre

At a time when trust and transparency matter more than ever, we believe this level of openness is essential.

A Fully Community-Funded Effort

Since our founding as a 501c3 nonprofit in January 2023, 100% of The Heart Theatre’s expenses have been covered by individual private donations.

That means every step we’ve taken—from insuring and maintaining the building to hosting community events like our annual Outdoor Movie Night—has been made possible by people who believe in preserving this space for future generations.

Earning the Platinum Seal is not just about reporting—it’s about honoring that trust.

Building Momentum, Responsibly

While we are not yet fully operational, our work over the past three years has focused on:

• Protecting and stabilizing the historic building

• Engaging the community through events and partnerships

• Preparing for a future capital campaign and restoration effort

We’ve approached this phase with discipline—maintaining modest surpluses, building a small reserve, and ensuring that every dollar is used thoughtfully.
